The youth working for Project New Life are assisting with the renovation of a single-family property located in the Lincoln-King neighborhood. The work involves replacing appliances with Energy
Star rated ones, replacing bulbs with fluorescent lamps, weatherproofing the home, mulching around the trees and shrubs and regularly mowing with the electric mower leaving grass at 3" height or more. The goal is to help improve the quality of affordable housing in the city of Racine.
The youth are learning skills in the areas of lawncare and landscaping, and developing homes that are more energy efficient. After the home is renovated the home will be sold to a local resident who will enjoy a renovated home in the Lincoln - King neighborhood.
