Washington Park High School gave a unique opportunity to the youth employed there. The youth are busy cleaning up and maintain the librarie's east courtyard, weeding and trimming various
plants, bushes, and trees. They're also maintaining an urban garden on the old tennis courts, raising vegetables in the unused space. The garden takes up four tennis courts, now lain with woodchips in raised, wood framed beds.
This project's primary goal is to clean up and maintain a beautiful green space, all while teaching students how to grow and maintain a garden. The youth working here are learning good gardening techniques and habits, and how to maintain existing plants, bushes, and trees.
