Gateway Technical College proposed a number of easy to implement green landscaping projects on the Racine campus.

They proposed to plant gardens in their childcare play area for the enjoyment of those in their childcare program and the surrounding community. The youth maintained their new rain garden along Racine's lakefront. Planted an herb and vegetable garden to be utilized by their culinary arts program. Finally to landscape the trees in East Park along Main Street by digging around the trees and adding mulch that is available for free from the City of Racine for the benefit of the entire community.

The primary goal is to implement green landscaping projects for the benefit of the entire community.  The project will provide the trees in East Park with a protective layering of mulch to further beautify East Park along Main Street. Provided the culinary arts program with a sustainable and local supply of herbs and vegetables to beautify childcare program with beautiful gardens in the childcare play area.  The youth working at this worksite are learning the value of beautifying and sustaining our natural environment, the value of a strong work ethic, and how to safely and properly implement green landscaping projects.
