T
he work site, and experience offered, is not directly linked to a "green" job, however there are elements of this initiative that overlap the work experience offered.  The Division of Vocational

Rehabilitation offers a work experience that includes numerous learning opportunities.  The youth have learned about DVR, a federal and state program designed to promote the employment of persons with disabilities, and careers related to this initiative.  They've learned about various career and job opportunities in government, and instruction as to how to seek out such opportunities.  They've received an overview of disability issues related to employment, and participated in WI DVR, and the VR process led by the Racine County-based DVR team.  They've been able to participate in office management activities, customer service standards and practices, even planning and meeting facilitation, a self-directed team model, and job search strategies.  The unique opportunity though that these youth have is to provide the DVR team with information and ideas regarding the incoporation of "green philosophy".

The goal is to provide a broad overview of counseling professions, careers and activities that are relevant to serving persons with disabilities, government work and public service, best practices in job and employment search strategies, self-directed team concepts, and disability issues.
